I have been playing drums professionally for about 25 years.
In that time, I have toured and recorded with many musicians. I joined the Norman Beaker Band in the mid-seventies. With them, I have backed, and recorded with, many American and British Blues and R&B artists, including Jack Bruce, Chris Farlowe, Lowell Fulson, Phil Guy, Johnny Mars, The Convulsions, Louisiana Red, Larry Garner, Lurrie & Carey Bell, Lefty Diz, Honey Boy Edwards, Bither Smith, Rockin' Sidney, Dr Jeremy Sassoon, Paul Jones, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Bernie Marsden, Colin Hodgkinson, Mick Abrahams, Zoot Money and Victor Brox. In a Jazz context I have worked extensively with Gary Boyle, and have also played with Bobby Wellins and Digby Fairweather. I have also recorded with with my brother Nick Franks, and Tim Wheater. I currently also have my own band, SAMPLE & HOLD.
I am experienced in a wide variety of styles and am happy to work either in the studio or live.
